OBES- Kindergarten Dismissal Procedures

  • Parents complete emergency contact form with names and phone numbers for all adults who can pick up students from the bus stop during registration.
  • The forms completed during registration are copied and given to transportation and the teachers to prepare luggage tags for the student backpacks.
  • By the end of the first day of each student’s school day, we verify how all students to include kindergarteners will get home.
  • Parents must send a written notice of any change to the routine.
  • The students are also given a wrist band for the back pack with their bus number and a color that matches the bus sign.
  • The kindergarten students are escorted to their bus the first two months of school by the teacher or  teacher assistant and Fins (patrols assigned to escort the kinders to and from the bus).
  • Students being picked up, going to SACC or daycare are dismissed and accounted for prior to busses being called.
  • Students are escorted to their bus and verified by their tag color.
  • Students are dismissed with their siblings or an adult whose name is on the tag and with a picture ID at the bus stop.
  • Students are returned to school if an adult is not at the bus stop with picture ID to collect them.
  • Office staff calls parents to pick students up from the office and reminds parents to be on time to pick students up from the bus stop.
